What we're building
AskCA is an AI assistant that helps you with California government services. It's designed to make it easier to get the answers you need.
This is a prototype. By signing up for the pilot testing, your feedback will help us improve it. It may not always get things right — every question you ask helps us make it better.
Why AskCA?
California government is big. It has hundreds of agencies, departments, programs, and websites. When something happens in your life, you often have to figure out where to go for help. This can be overwhelming.
We're making it easier. Tell us what you're going through — whether that's finding a state job, recovering from a disaster, or having a child — and we'll help you find the right programs, services, and next steps.

How it works
- Explain your situation. No government jargon. No personal information. Just tell us what you're dealing with.
- We search official sources. We pull from state, federal, and county sources in real time to find accurate answers.
- AskCA responds. We give you clear next steps and direct links. You spend less time searching.
Trust and safety
As a public service, we take trust and safety seriously.
- We do NOT train the model based on your conversations.
- Our team reviews conversations to find gaps and catch errors.
- We update the assistant often based on your feedback — when something isn't right, we fix it.
- We test for bias and accessibility so the assistant works for all Californians.
- We work with independent partners to evaluate quality, fairness, and safety.
Your privacy
- We will not share or sell your data.
- We remove personal information from conversation logs.
- We only collect what we need to improve the assistant.
