Research participant rights

The AskCA team at the California Office of Data and Innovation (ODI) invites you to participate in pilot testing.

You choose how much you want to participate and what information you share.

• We only share the minimum level of information necessary with approved state departments and partners who follow strict privacy rules
• We use automated tools to remove personal details before saving information for review.

We want to be transparent with you about what we collect, how we use it, and your rights when you participate in AskCA pilot testing.

What we collect

• We only gather basic information needed for your participation
• We keep this information only for as long as we need for our analysis, unless we are required to keep it longer by law or policy.

How we use your information

• We combine your responses with others' to spot trends
• We remove personal details before analyzing data
• We never ask for personal info like your name, phone number, or exact address unless necessary for business purposes (like your zip code to compare experiences in your area)

Your rights

• Skip questions or withdraw from the pilot anytime without impacting your current or future access to state services
• Ask to see what information we have about you
• Request corrections to inaccurate information
• Delete your personal data, unless we are required by law to keep it.
